Christian Fischbacher, the Swiss interior fabrics company, has announced that the Spring 2003 Collection is now available exclusively through Steven Harsey Textiles in the three Southern California showrooms owned by Rosemary and Steven Harsey.

The best seller at the January Bienelle fabrics fair in Paris was the COCKTAIL COLLECTION, depicting a Caribbean mood that pervades shimmering light silk. Large patches of color in an exciting interplay with fine stripes, diamonds and squares are combined in wonderful unusual colors. CANDIS and LIMON complete the mixture, which are two transparent polyester sheer fabrics with horizontal or vertical stripes of silk in turquoise, green, azure, and in soft warm shades of golden yellow and orange. “This is an island in the sun,” stated Rosemary Harsey, “where the colors themselves transport one’s imagination to their favorite tropical locale.”

In Christian Fischbacher’s GARDEN PARTY, three new designs once again blossom and ripen. OLIVE branches from Corsica provide symbols of peace, POMEGRANATE refreshes in the richness and perfection of a ripe fruit, and PASSION FLOWER which in life blossoms only for one day adds a mysterious flavor. These themes from nature have been transformed into prints on a white Egyptian cotton ground with loving care. The playful lightness heralds the joy of a fine spring day.

“One of my favorites is KAKADU,” says Harsey, “not only because of the flock of brightly-colored birds that create a border, but because of the unique way in which it is printed.” KAKADU invites one to go on a voyage of discovery into a fantasy world. Harsey continued, “a highly sophisticated inkjet printing technique makes it possible to show lovingly drawn details with feather-like nuances of color. I stopped counting when I discovered over 25 colors in the design.”

TANGO accompanies the collection in an unconventional, spirited rhythm that is created using a technique of colorfully woven wavy stripes the way the Latin dance brings movement onto the dance floor.

The Harsey’s own three Southern California showrooms, Space B427 of the Pacific Design Center and the two Harsey and Harsey showrooms in the Laguna Design Center and in San Diego on Morena Blvd.
